Main objectives
To catalyse private sector investment and innovation in low cost clean energy and climate change adaptation technologies. It facilitates a market driven approach to increased energy access through off-grid renewable energy, as well as increasing resilience and adapting to climate change in rural areas.

Main activities
1) Provide support to grow the off grid or decentralised renewable energy (DRE) market in Africa and strengthen the enabling environment. 2) To provide Technical Assistance (TA) through a facility (TAF), to develop Energy Africa Compacts between partner governments in the Energy Africa campaign, DFID and other donor partners as appropriate.
