Main objectives
To amplify Egyptian-German cooperation in the areas of Renewable Energy (RE), Energy Efficiency (EE) and environmental protection, the Joint Committee’s overall objective is to promote environmentally sustainable economic development by securing energy supplies while improving living conditions and protecting the environment. Conditions have become more conducive for climate-friendly investments in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. Longer term strategies for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency have been introduced.

Main activities
Providing a platform for national actors to conduct a cross-sector policy dialogue on Renewab Energies, Energy Efficiency and Climate Change in order to support partner institutions with comprehensive policy advice, holistic capacity development measures, education initiatives and technology transfers. The desired results include: - Improvement of the statutory and regulatory framework for the promotion of Renewab Energies and Energy Efficiency - Conducting of training and organisational support for employees of important institutions in aspects of energy and climate protection. - Consultation of the partners in the implementation of information campaigns to raise public awareness for the efficient use of electricity. - Cooperation with a range of stakeholders, including eight Egyptian ministries as well as the Ministerial Council on Energy and the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
