Main objectives
The main objectives fo the Rural Electrification Agency are: Promoting equitable rural electrification access and having special regard to those areas of the community that are currently marginalized. Enhancing the available financial resource base for Rural Electrification through strategic fundraising. Promote institutional sustainability of the Rural Electrification Fund

Main activities
The Rural Electrification Programme has been implemented in line with the provisions of Section 62 of the Electricty Act 1999, which prescribes project types to be supported by the REF as follows; Grid extension Independent grids Photovoltaic systems (solar electrification) Renewable energy generation projects REA projects can also be considered based on who is funding its implementation or the management model used to implement them
